6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls

Making calls to prospects is a big part of network marketing. That means it’s important to know you’re being as effective as possible.

Here are 6 tips to make your prospecting calls more successful.

1) Use A Mirror

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls - Smile, Smile, Smile . . . in a mirror is bestThis is a tip I picked up from Lisa Kitter.

When you’re standing in front of a mirror, it is easier to know if you are actually smiling.

When you’re smiling to make a call, you’re going to be more effective.

The person on the other end is going to know if you’re smiling or not . . .

They can hear it in your voice.

So it’s important to keep a smile on your face while calling . . .

And the easiest way to do that is to be looking in a mirror.

2) Stand Up

You should be standing up whenever you make your prospecting calls.

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls - Stand up to Call

Standing up is going to allow your voice to be fuller and project more.

You will also feel more powerful standing than sitting.

That will have a tremendous effect on your posture when you’re talking to a prospect.

You will come off as more authoritative. And this lets your prospects know that you’re a leader.

And leaders know where they’re going. Which makes people want to follow you.

After all, nobody wants to follow someone who’s a follow . . . Or who doesn’t know where they’re going.

This is one of the best tips for making prospecting calls that you should always implement . . .

So stand up and take charge.

3) Use A Timer

The third tip for making prospecting calls is to use a timer.

You want to know how long each call takes.

The first call you make to a lead is going to be about seeing if they’re open . . .

And if they are, getting them some information.

This should take between 2 to 5 minutes. Keep your calls within that range of time.

You don’t want you’re calls to be any longer than they need to be.

Remember, you’re a busy, successful network marketer, so you don’t have all day to chat on the phone.

Using a timer will also help with the next step.

4) Block Out Your Calling Time

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls - Block Out Your Calling Time

Make sure you’re blocking out time to make your prospecting calls.

This is one of those simple tips for making prospecting calls that gets overlooked.

If you aren’t blocking out that time, it’s too easy to get distracted by other non-money making tasks.

Before you know it the day will go by and you won’t have made any calls.

By using a timer will let you know how long it takes to make a certain number of calls.

And that will make it easier to block out an appropriate amount of time.

This way you can be sure to know you have enough time to make the number of calls you need to make.

5) Know Your Numbers & Keep Records

This is probably the most important of the 6 tips for making prospecting calls . . .

You have to know your numbers.

How many calls do you need to make to get an appointment to show someone your business plan?

How many plans do you need to show to sponsor someone into your business?

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls - Know Your Numbers

How many people do you need to sponsor to make the residual income you need to achieve financial freedom?

If you don’t know the answer to these questions, then how are you going to know if you’re making the right number of calls?

The best way to know these numbers is to keep a record of your calls.

How many calls did you make last week?

How many people did you talk to and how many appointments did you get?

How many people did you sponsor?

A great tool for keeping track of your numbers is called Activity Tracker.

You can check it out at activitytracker.com.

6) Practice, Practice, Practice!

This is huge.

If you’re using a script, which you should be, you don’t want to sound like you’re using a script.

You want to sound natural . . .

And the only way to do that is to practice your script and internalize it . . .

Make it your own.

6 Tips For Making Prospecting Calls - Practice, Practice, Practice

You want to sound as relaxed and normal as possible. Not like you’re reading something from a piece of paper.

So practice.

The other thing to practice is overcoming the objections that you might get.

And the best way to practice is not while you’re talking to a lead.

It’s sitting at home and talking to your spouse or a friend, or better yet, at a Prospecting Boot Camp.

We hold a 5 day intensive prospecting Boot Camp about once a month.

It’s important that you implement all 6 of the tips here. This will have the greatest effect on your prospecting.

Using just 1 or 2 will help, but you won’t get the same results you will if you do all 6.
